Peru: Comedores Populares

Comedores Populares are restaurants managed by various local (municipal) governments with some subsidies from the national government. There are over 14,000 Comedores Populares operating across Peru.

How do they work?

Managed by local governments with national funding, these community restaurants often work in partnership with civil society groups, especially women’s associations. By 2023, 230 local governments had established them across Peru.
